Morin Khuur Ensemble performs top Mongolian pieces at Mariinsky Theater for very first time

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. In the framework of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Russia, the Morin Khuur Ensemble of the State Philharmonic performed at the Capella Hall and the Mariinsky Theater in Russia on November 11 and 13.

 

Consisting of members from the State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet and the Grand Theater of National Arts, the ensemble played select pieces written by Mongolian composers of various generations for the concert. 


With the participation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture of Mongolia, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Mongolia, the Embassy of Mongolia in the Russian Federation, the concert have been the organized by the St. Petersburg State Museum-Institute of the Roerich Family and the House-Museum of the Roerich Family in Ulaanbaatar.  




For the Morin Khuur Ensemble, it is their second time performing at the Capella Hall and their first time performing on the stage of Mariinsky Theater.


Moreover, as one of the anniversary events, Mongolian representatives attended the International Round Table “Rights of the Museum and Human Rights  – Peace through Culture”, took place in St.Petersburg on November 11-13.
