Mongolian taekwondo athletes qualify for semifinals

Tokyo /MONTSAME/. On September 2, two Mongolian athletes are competing in the taekwondo tournament at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. 

 

In the men’s K44 61kg weight class, IM G.Bolor-Erdene faced off against Antonino Bossolo of Italy for his first match, and was defeated by a score of 28:40. In the match for the repechage round, he was matched against Alejandro Vidal of Spain. As he was able to come out victorious with a score of 33:11, he has qualified for the semifinals. 

 

As for the women’s K44 -49kg weight class, IM Kh.Enkhtuya was narrowly defeated by her opponent, Ziyodakhon Isokova of Uzbekistan, with a score of 11:13. However, as she won against Soukaina Es-Sabbar of Marocco in the repechage round, the taekwondo athlete has qualified for the next stage. 

 

While IM G.Bolor-Erdene has previously become the world champion in the men’s K44 -61kg at the World Para Taekwondo Championships in 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2019, IM Kh.Enkhtuya has also had international success by becoming world champion in the years of 2017 and 2019.
