Two Mongolian judo athletes compete in Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games

Tokyo /MONTSAME/. On August 27, two Mongolian judo athletes stepped onto the mat at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. 

 

In the men’s 66 kg weight class, A.Munkhbat faced off against Phipps Wayne of Australia in the first round, and came out victorious with an ippon. However, he was unable to beat his next two opponents, finishing his run in the Paralympic Games. 


As for S.Yadamdorj, he defeated his opponent, Zurab Zurabiani of Georgia in the first round of matches for the men’s 60 kg weight class. In the quarterfinals, he was defeated by Anuar Sariyev of Kazakhstan by 1:0 with a wazari. For the repechage match, Yadamdorj tested his strength against Sherzod Namazov of Uzbekistan, and faced defeat by ippon. With this, the two judo athletes both ended the tournament by placing in 7th place.
