Government of Mongolia in 200 days: Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene’s first official visit

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Today marks the 200th day since the formation of Mongolia’s new government. Mr. Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai was appointed as the Prime Minister of Mongolia on January 27 this year. Then, the Government was fully formed as members of his cabinet took an oath of office to the Parliament on January 29. Afterwards, Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene presented four key objectives of his Cabinet and started working accordingly.
The Prime Minister went on an official visit to Japan on July 21-25. This was his first official visit to a foreign country as the Prime Minister of Mongolia. During the visit, he paid a courtesy call on His Majesty the Emperor Naruhito and held an official meeting with Prime Minister of Japan Yoshihide Suga. Furthermore, PM L.Oyun-Erdene attended the opening ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, and held meetings with Japanese officials to discuss bilateral cooperation.
For instance, during the meeting held with the Japanese Prime Minister, the sides discussed comprehensively expanding the new Chinggis Khaan International Airport recently opened at Khushig Valley near Ulaanbaatar city, developing the region as a complex economic, information technology and tourism region. They also exchanged views on cooperating in a highway development surrounding the capital city aimed at reducing traffic congestion of the city, Bogdkhan railway development, intensifying the public-private partnership in information technology, training of engineers and cooperation in the development of a feasibility study for a hydropower plant at coal deposits. As the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Japan will be marked in 2022, PM L.Oyun-Erdene invited Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Japanese PM Yoshihide Suga to visit Mongolia on the occasion of the anniversary.
On his way back to Mongolia, the PM held a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Kim Bu-gyom to exchange views on upgrading bilateral ties from the current level of ‘Comprehensive Partnership’ between Mongolia and the Republic of Korea to ‘Strategic Partnership'. He also held a meeting with the executives of the Export-Import Bank of Korea. During the meeting, they discussed accelerating the implementation of construction projects for the Solongo 1 and 2 apartment complexes, rental apartments at Bayangol Mountain, and a central heating station for 10 aimags.
