427 thousand citizens involved in early-detection checkups in 2020

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. At a regular meeting of the Cabinet on August 11, the Minister of Health was obliged with the task of conducting a study on having public and private health institutions carry out works to involve the population in medical checkups as a precautionary measure as well as to diagnose various illnesses and diseases early on. 


The Government of Mongolia launched works to involve the population in preventive and early-detection checkups based on age, sex, and health risks in 2018. Financed from the Health Insurance Fund, citizens above the age of 18 are able to be involved in 12 types of diagnostic tests for MNT 43,000-75,000 based on their respective age group.


In 2020, a total of 427,700 citizens were involved in medical checkups for early detection, with MNT 6.6 billion in financing from the Health Insurance Fund. As of the first 5 months of this year, 38,957 people have been involved in the checkup, with a financing of MNT 1.55 billion allocated from the fund.
