Society
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The ‘Close to Us’ project to improve access to health care for children with disabilities has been launched. The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection in cooperation with the Leaders Advancing Democracy-LEAD Mongolia US20 program's ‘Improving Transparency and Reducing Corruption’ policy team.
Supported by the United
States Agency for International Development (USAID), ICT Group's eClinic,
iTheme, and Aero-Mongolia, the project will open up an opportunity for children
with disabilities in rural and remote soums to receive telemedicine (the remote
diagnosis and treatment of patients by means of telecommunications technology) from
the Center for Rehabilitation and Development of Children with Disabilities in
Ulaanbaatar through the ‘eclinic.mn’ platform.
With the launch of the project, children with disabilities will be able to receive diagnosis and treatment at home instead of in a hospital, and will be able to receive emergency medical examinations from anywhere in Mongolia without delay.
The telemedicine has been successfully provided to 11 children at the branch of the Association of Parents of Children with Disabilities in Bayan-Ulgii aimag within the framework of the first phase of the project. Moreover, the equipment needed for telemedicine have been handed over to the branch. The project will be implemented in all the aimags of the country in the future.
