Mongolian judoka Saeid Mollaei qualifies for semifinals

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. In the men’s 81kg quarterfinals match at the Tokyo Summer Olympics, Iranian-born Mongolian judoka Saeid Mollaei faced off against 21-year-old Georgian judoka Tato Grigalashvili.   


Despite getting behind in points as his opponent scored a waza-ari, the Mongolian judoka was able to catch up with a waza-ari by kata guruma (shoulder wheel) at 1:44, followed up by a decisive ippon with a uki-otoshi at 2:07. In the semifinals, Saeid Mollaei will be stepping onto the mat against Shamil Borchashivli of Austria. 


In his first match in the tournament, he defeated Didar Khamza of Kazakhstan with an ippon at 3:56. In the next match, he came out victorious over Murad Fatiyev of Azerbaijan by waza-ari with a harai goshi (sweeping hip throw) in Golden Score overtime.
