Two Mongolian referees officiating boxing at Tokyo Olympics
SportsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Two Mongolian referees are officiating the boxing matches at the Tokyo Summer Olympics. More specifically, IM Ts.Tsogtgerel and O.Mandakhbayar are working as referees at the boxing tournaments.
Referee Ts.Tsogtgerel was recently awarded the Order of the Polar Star per the decree of the President of Mongolia. As a 3-star Referee of the International Boxing Association (AIBA), she has officiated numerous large-scale international tournaments at the continent and world level.
As for referee O.Mandakhbayar, he entered the boxing scene by following his father’s footsteps. At the 1981 World Amateur Boxing Championships that took place in Germany, his father R.Otgonbayar won the silver medal in the men’s 57 kg weight class, becoming the first Mongolian boxing athlete to claim a medal from a world championship.
