Mongolia-France cooperation in emergency management discussed

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Chief of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Brigadier General G.Ariunbuyan had a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Mongolia Philippe Merlin on June 23. 

 

NEMA signed a memorandum of understanding with its French equivalent in 2010, which marked the beginning of relations and cooperation between the two countries in disaster protection. 

 

At the meeting, the sides discussed relations and cooperation and joint projects and programs. The financial agreement established between the governments of Mongolia and France enabled the implementation of the project to set up an air rescue unit at NEMA and supply of helicopters and fire engines.

 

Besides the aforementioned project, the establishment the intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in civil security opened up opportunities for cooperation in the area.
