Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. A fully operational CAT-330CL Excavator was handed over to Dornod Polytechnic College on June 4, 2021. This depreciated excavator was donated by Oyu Tolgoi LLC in 2018 to support the Polytechnic College's heavy machinery training. The professional board at Dornod PC initiated with support of the ‘Cooperative Technical and Vocational Education and Training’ (cTVET) the inspection and repair of the heavy machine equipment to further utilize for the training of TVET students and workers.

The repair and maintenance of the machinery was done at BarloWorld Mongolia at discounted rate for Dornod PC and on top - in the frame of company’s social responsibility – practical training provided for TVET teachers, students and engineers – strengthening their practical skills in relevance to heavy duty machinery repair and maintenance.

This functional machine is an important milestone for Dornod PC to develop into Capacity Development Centre in the field of industrial technician and heavy machinery mechanics field. In the future, the Dornod PC will lease the machine to companies providing in company training to teachers and students and therewith expand their cooperation with private sector.

Commissioned by the BMZ, the cTVET project is funded by the Governments of Germany, Australia, Korea and being implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in close partnership with Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.
