Foreign Minister presents awards to winners of essay contest on 100th anniversary of Mongolia-Russia diplomatic relations

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On June 1, the award ceremony took place for the essay contest themed, ‘The country of Mongolia and the Mongolian people that I know’, announced on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Russia.


Organized by the Embassy of Mongolia in Russia, students majoring in Mongolian studies, and studying international relations and Mongolian language translation at Russian universities and colleges participated in the contest. The award ceremony was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs B.Battsetseg who is on an official visit at the invitation of Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs S.V.Lavrov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to Russia D.Davaa.

 


The grand prize awards were presented to second-year student of Moscow State University Alexei Anisimov for his essay, ‘The country of Mongolia and the Mongolian people that I know’, and fourth-year student of Moscow State Institute of International Relations Nikolai Kolnobritsky for his essay, ‘The Century of Friendship’. 

 

Furthermore, first place awards were presented to first-year student of Russian National Research University Higher School of Economics Ulyana Makhno and second-year student of Saint Petersburg State University Elizaveta Pavlova. First-year students of Moscow State Linguistic University Elistina Erdnieva and Artem Varitsky were selected for second place, while second-year students of Moscow State University Vita Vetrova and Anton Alexandrov, first-year students of Russian National Research University Higher School of Economics Sofia Kozlova, Maxim Gula, and Anna Klementyeva, fourth-year students of Moscow State Institute of International Relations Boris Kushkhov and Dmitry Fedin, and first-year student of Moscow State Linguistic University Gunel Kulieva received honorable mentions. 


After presenting the awards, Minister of Foreign Affairs B.Battsetseg gave remarks and congratulated the students as well as their professors, wishing success in their studies and future endeavors. 


Following the award ceremony, the students held an open discussion and watched two documentaries featuring the National Naadam Festival and the highlight events that took place during the past 100 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
