Children’s and Youth Theater to be re-established

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Cabinet, at its regular meeting on June 1 made a decision to make the cultural palace being under construction in the 5th sub-district of Songinokhairkhan district Children’s and Youth Theater in efforts to foster the creative development of children and youth and support their art education and let them learn more about international theatrical trends, folk arts, and other art forms. The construction of the theater is currently 65 percent complete and it is planned to open the theater in December. The theater will have 110 staff members.

 

The old theater for children and youth was established as the Central Children’s Theater with 13 artists in 1951. It was expanded to the Children’s and Youth Theater in 1967 and was operated under a management agreement from 1991. The theater stopped giving performances after its was privatized in 1997.
