Germany provides 462,000 medical face masks

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A handover ceremony of humanitarian assistance from the Federal Republic of Germany for Mongolia’s COVID-19 response was held at the Ministry of Health on May 28. Minister of Health S.Enkhbold, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Mongolia Jorn Rosenberg, Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Mongolia Sergey Diorditsa, and other officials attended the event. 

 

Minister S.Enkhbold underlined the timeliness of the humanitarian assistance of 462,000 medical face masks worth USD 145,068 or around MNT 413 million provided via the WHO Representative’s Office in Mongolia under a cooperation agreement between the German Federal Ministry of Health and WHO and expressed gratitude. The Minister also said the WHO has made valuable contributions to Mongolia’s fight against COVID-19 and the preparedness of healthcare facilities with its support and provision of much needed hospital equipment and personal protective equipment since the beginning of the pandemic. 

 



Stressing the effectiveness of actions the government of Mongolia is taking against the COVID-19 pandemic, Ambassador Jorn Rosenberg said Germany has provided overall assistance of EUR 2.7 million for Mongolia’s response against COVID-19. WHO Representative Sergey Diorditsa expressed his hope that the PPE assistance will contribute to COVID-19 prevention efforts and undertook to further expand cooperation and provide full support. The sides signed a document of the humanitarian assistance handover during the event.
