Labor Minister discusses cooperation with JICA representatives

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister of Labor and Social Protection A.Ariunzaya had a meeting with representatives of the office of Japan International Cooperation Agency in Mongolia led by Senior Representative Yoshimura Tokuji.


The JICA representatives briefed the Minister on a study being carried out to find out issues faced in social protection and to provide support in the medium and long term.


Minister A.Ariunzaya thanked the agency for conducting the study and said improving social welfare provision for vulnerable groups and making it possible for working age welfare recipients to work are the key pressing issues in the country’s social welfare system. The Minister also noted that the government has set a goal to move from welfare to employment and that the revised law on social welfare is being drafted to reach the goal, emphasizing that there is another goal of creating welfare services tailored to the needs of disadvantaged individuals and families.


The sides exchanged views on jointly implementing projects and programs to strengthen the social welfare system, improve the livelihoods of individuals and families in vulnerable groups, and support their transition from welfare to work.
