Passengers of air transportation decreased by 92.0 percent
EconomyUlaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. In the first two months of 2021, 5.2 million tonnes of freight were carried by railway transport and increased by 436.6 thousand tonnes (9.2%) compared to the same period of previous year. The increase was mainly due to 399.0 thousand tonnes (23.8%) increase in domestic freight and 212.2 thousand tonnes (49.8%) increase in import freight. In February 2021, carried freight from railway transport reached 2.5 million tonnes, decreased by 118.5 thousand (4.5%) compared to the previous month.
In the first two months of 2021, 88.3% of carried freight by
railway transport were the mining freight, 6.7% were the construction
materials, 0.3% were food products, 1.0% were wood products and 1.9% were other
products. In the first two months of 2021, no passengers were transported by
rail due to the public emergency readiness regime as a result of COVID-19
pandemic.
In the first two months of 2021, the revenue from railway
transport reached MNT120.3 billion, increased by MNT5.3 billion or (4.6%)
compared to the same period of the previous year. This increase was mainly due
to increases in the transportation of mining products, namely, coal, flours and
spar concentrates and construction materials. In February 2021, the revenue
reached MNT56.9 billion, decreased by MNT6.5 billion (10.2%) compared to the
previous month.
Air transport: In the first two months, 439.7 tonnes of freight carried by air transportation and decreased by 468.8 tonnes (51.6%) compared to the same period of the previous month. In the first two months, the total carried domestic freight by air transport reached 1.8 tonnes (0.4%), and decreased by 13.9 tonnes (88.7%) compared to the same period of the previous year. The international freight reached 438.0 tonnes (99.6%), and decreased by 454.9 tonnes (50.9%) compared to the same period of previous year.
In February 2021, carried freight of air transport reached
211.5 tonnes, decreased by 16.7 tonnes (7.3%) compared to the previous month.
In the first two months of 2021, 14.6 thousand passengers
(double counting) carried by air transport. The number of carried passengers
decreased by 167.9 thousand (92.0%) compared to the same period of the previous
year.
In February 2021, the number of passengers reached 7.4
thousand, increased by 0.2 thousand (2.5%) compared to the previous month.
In the first two months of 2021, the total carried domestic
passengers by air transport reached 11.1 thousand passengers (75.7%), decreased
by 47.8 thousand passengers (81.2%) compared to the same period of previous
year. This was mainly due to 98.6 % decrease in the number of passengers from
Ulaanbaatar to Khovd, 95.0 % decrease in passengers to Ulgii and 94.9 % decrease
in passengers to Uliastai.
In the first two months of 2021, the total carried
international passengers reached 3.6 thousand (24.3%), decreased by 120.1
thousand passengers (97.1%) compared to the same period of previous year. In
the first two months of 2021, the revenue from air transport (domestic airline)
reached MNT 17.4 billion, decreased by MNT 28.3 billion or (61.9%) compared to
the same period of previous year. In February 2021, the revenue reached MNT 8.3
billion, decreased by MNT 699.2 million (7.7%) compared to the previous month.
