Education sector to be developed through public and private partnership

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. There are 167 privately-owned general education schools and 506 kindergartens that are running operations in Mongolia. On March 9, Minister of Education and Science L.Enkh-Amgalan and corresponding department officials held a virtual meeting with their representatives.

 

During the meeting, the sides shared their views on the package law on education as well as the operations of schools and kindergartens during the pandemic. For private schools, the content of lessons are currently being covered online during the pandemic, with a study showing the participation of students at 90 percent and the satisfaction of parents at 85 percent.


The representatives of private schools and kindergartens put forth a request to resume in-person lessons, resolve the issue of variable costs as well as to involve teachers in COVID-19 tests and vaccination.

 

39 thousand children are receiving preschool education this academic year. As 70-80 percent of the core foundations for child development is laid out up till the age of 6, the representatives highlighted the importance of the educational institute. With over 5 thousand teachers and staff members working in the kindergarten sector, they also noted how the number of children per teacher is affecting the quality of learning as well as the lack of social security for teachers at private schools and kindergartens.
