Proposal made for cooperation in educational reform

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister of Educaiton and Science L.Enkh-Amgalan had a meeting with Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Mongolia Tapan Mishra on March 9.
Learning loss is one of the many challenges facing education sector in Mongolia due to the pandemic. A study shows that 174 thousand of the more than 650 thousand schoolchildren have fallen behind in learning. “We therefore plan to implement a program aimed at eliminating learning loss,” said Minister L.Enkh-Amgalan, putting forth a proposal to cooperate on that program as well as digital educational transformation. The Education Minister also underlined the UN’s support is crucial to implementing medium- and long-term programs on education, updating the sector’s legal framework, and carrying out an educational reform.
Emphasizing that UN Mongolia coordinates the activities of UN agencies in the country, Resident Coordinator Tapan Mishra said focus has been put on aligning policies with the country’s long-term development program. Moreover, Minister L.Enkh-Amgalan welcomed the UN Resident Coordinator’s request to work together in embedding the Sustainable Development Goals at educational institutions of all levels.
