Police-judo cooperation with Canada discussed

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On January 27, 2021 the Embassy of Mongolia to Canada hosted a virtual meeting regarding the introduction of Police Judo training programs in Mongolia. This meeting was amongst Mongolian and Canadian representatives including Mr.B.Uuganbaatar, Secretary of the Mongolian Judo Association, Mr.Kh.Boldbaatar, Coach of the National Judo Team, Mr.J.Enkhsaikhan, Director of Judo-Intellect Club, Co-founders and Instructors  of Police Judo namely Ret. Sgt. Toby Hinton, Ret. Cst. Arsenault, VPD Police Judo Instructor Brian Shipper, Ret. Sgt. Mark Steinkampf, Police Judo Vice President Ray Bergen and Ret. Insp. Ken Davies. 

 

During the meeting all parties discussed the benefits and best practices of Police Judo as developed by Vancouver Police Department officers over the past 20+ years. Attendees discussed how the Vancouver Police Department and other agencies have incorporated Police Judo training into their law enforcement training and touched on the benefits for physical skills training for the officer, the subject and society using low-risk, high-yield Police Judo techniques. Also discussed was how to promote and develop this training internationally through recreational clubs and training programs for youth and adults.

 

Mongolian delegates provided an overview of its current judo practice and development, its human resource capacities, training systems, expertise and skills of law enforcement officers and their plan to introduce Police Judo in Mongolia considering the proven benefits of Police Judo especially its benefits on ensuring the human rights of its citizens. 

 

Parties affirmed their interest to cooperate on developing Police Judo and reached an agreement to formally sign an MOU.
