Blizzard warning issued for most parts of the country

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The National Agency of Meteorology and Environment has issued a warning for blizzards in the eastern parts of western aimags, and in most parts of central and eastern aimags today on January 5, and in the eastern region tomorrow on January 6. 


Snowfall is expected in the eastern parts of the western region, and in most parts of central and eastern aimags on January 5, in the eastern region on January 6, and in mountainous areas on January 7 and 8.


Wind speed will reach 14-16 m/sec in most parts of the country on January 5, in the eastern region on January 6, and in the Gobi and plains on January 7. 


Temperature drops are expected in the northern region from January 5, and in most parts of the country from January 6. In the depression of Darkhad, in the head of Zavkhan river, near Khurenbelchir, and in the basins of Ider and Tes rivers, the temperature will range from -44 to -49 degrees Celsius during the night, and -34 to -39 during the day.


In the depression of Uvs lake, in mountainous areas of Altai, Khangai, Khuvsgul, and Khentei, and in the basins of Eg, Uur, Orkhon, Selenge, Kharaa, Yuruu, Tuul, Terelj, and Kherlen rivers, the temperature will be -38 to -43 during the night, and -26 to -31 during the day.


In parts of the Gobi region with little snow, the night-time temperature will be -23 to -28 degrees Celsius, and daytime temperature will be -14 to -19 degrees Celsius.


In other areas, temperatures are expected to be -30 to -35 during the night, and -22 to -27 during the day.
