Cooperation in the field of meteorology discussed with South Korea

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The ninth meeting between the National Agency for Meteorology and the Environmental Monitoring of Mongolia (NAMEM) and Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) was virtually held yesterday.
The meeting was co-chaired by Director of NAMEM S.Enkhtuvshin and Administrator of KMA Park Kwang Suk and attended by other relevant staff.
At the beginning of the meeting, the sides reviewed the implementations of the works agreed during the previous meeting.
Director S.Enkhtuvshin said, “Over the past two years, we have worked together on numerous fruitful activities, such as the introduction of advanced technology in Mongolia’s meteorological sector. Moreover, the project aimed at improving the prevention and warning of natural disasters in Mongolia and establishing a network of automatic meteorological observation stations was implemented in 2017-2019. As a result, 32 automatic meteorological observation stations have been installed which made a significant contribution to the improvement of timely weather forecast”.
The meeting discussed and approved the cooperation action plan for 2021-2022. The sides agreed to cooperate in the next two years in the field of Asian dust storms, climate monitoring, modeling technology, improvement of global and regional modeling systems for digital weather forecasting, real-time observation data exchange, etc. and signed a protocol.
The tenth meeting was agreed to be held in Mongolia in 2022.
