Meeting held with Head of Office of UNFPA Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. Acting Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia J. Hunan and member of the NHRCM G. Narantuya met with the Head of Office of UNFPA Mongolia Kaori Ishikawa on December 17, discussing the current situation and bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged information on human rights violations caused by COVID-19 restrictions and accessibility to health care for women and girls and human rights amid the pandemic. The sides noted that the one-stop service centers for domestic violence victims operate normally and praised the government's efforts for it.

The NHRCM, in partnership with the UNFPA Mongolia, is implementing a project towards improving policy and regulation of sexual and reproductive health and rights of youth and adolescents, which was said to expand its implementation even further.

At the meeting, cooperation proposals were put on reduce gender-based violence and maternal mortality through raising public awareness and focusing on health of girls and women living in remote areas, and pay attention to human rights issues in the health sector.
