2020 Annual Review Meeting of UNICEF Country Programme held

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. On December 8, 2020 Annual Review Meeting of Government
of Mongolia and UNICEF Country Programme 2017-2022 was organized online jointly
with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting was attended by over 100 participants representing the Government,
NGOs, UN, development partners, Bayankhongor, Gobi-Altai, Umnugobi and Zavkhan
aimags and Bayanzurkh district authorities.
Participants discussed achievements made within the
programme in 2020 and priorities for the upcoming year.
In his opening remark, Mr. Alex Heikens, UNICEF Representative, congratulated
the Government of Mongolia for handling the pandemic successfully and
appreciated the response measures by the Government with a particular note on
decision of the Government in terms of social protection of children: the
increase of the cash contribution via the child money programme.
Mr. Zulpkhar, Vice Minister of Labour and Social Protection, highlighted
UNICEF’s support in the implementation of the Country Programme, as well as the
support provided in the COVID response, with a specific emphasis on online
education, vaccine deployment, child protection, and repatriation of monk
children from India.
