858th birth anniversary of Chinggis Khaan falls today

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Today is the National Pride Day - the 858th anniversary of birth of Great Chinggis Khaan, which customarily falls on the first day of winter according to the Mongolian Lunar Calendar. The day has been celebrated as a public holiday since 2012.
On National Pride Day, high-ranking state officials pay tribute to the Statue of Chinggis Khaan and a Mongolian wrestling tournament takes place. This year, however, public celebratory activities including the award ceremony of the Order of Chinggis Khaan, the most prestigious and supreme state prize, will not be organized for the holiday due to the ongoing heightened state of readiness for disaster protection.
