Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. At the initiative of the Ministry of Construction and Urban Development and the Agency for Land Management, Geodesy and Cartography in 2019, a national Braille atlas was created for the visually impaired people for the first time in Mongolia. On September 1, the Braille atlases were presented to the authorities of school No: 116, the only school for visually impaired children in Mongolia.
Designed with 1:200000-1:1700000 scale for
the specific needs of visually impaired people, the atlas shows borders of 21
aimags, the capital city, soums and soum centers, rivers and lakes and their
names. For the blind, the linear
elements of the atlas are embossed and names are written in Braille, while for
the visually impaired people, it is depicted in wide dashes and capital letters.
