Views exchanged on Mongolia- Kuwait relations and cooperation

N.Enkhtaivan received Ambassador of Kuwait to Mongolia Mohammad Faisal
Al-Mutairi on August 24. They exchanged views on Mongolia-Kuwait relations and
bilateral and multilateral cooperation. At the meeting, the sides expressed
satisfaction with ever-expanding bilateral cooperation and emphasized the
importance of further enhancing of trade and economic cooperation and participation of private sector in it.
Minister N.Enkhtaivan said that Mongolia would further
focus on expanding cultural, education and people-to-people ties, and
appreciated the Kuwaiti government for implementing significant projects that
can contribute to the country’s socio-economic development.
The Kuwaiti Ambassador reaffirmed his commitment to work for
improving relations between the two countries.
The sides concurred to organize a meeting of the
intergovernmental commission as soon as the COVID-19-related situation subsides.
With the soft loan and grants from the Government of Kuwait,
Mongolia has made numerous construction works such as the Taishir Hydro-power Plant, 400-km Darkhan-Erdenet-Bulgan-Unt-Tarialan auto road, a Mongolian-Kuwaiti
research center, and a ‘Kuwait town’ in Bayan-Ulgii aimag.
The Mongolian side is working to put the National Burn
Center, which is being built with the grant of Kuwait, into operation in 2020.
Moreover, a project on the renovation of Undurkhaan Airport is under
implementation. Recently, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development has decided
to provide a grant of about USD 500,000 to design the feasibility
study on the Undurkhaan-Norovlin-Dadal road project.
In 2020, two countries are marking the 45th
anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
