President meets authorities of Mongolian National Olympic Committee

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. President Kh.Battulga received
authorities of the Mongolian National Olympic Committee (MNOC) on August 24.
At the beginning of the meeting, the President congratulated
N.Tuvshinbayar, newly-elected President of MNOC, Hero of Labor and Honored
Athlete of Mongolia, and expressed his pleasure with the appointment of a
person, who knows the hard work of athletes and issues in the field.
The authority of the MNOC introduced its plans to improve its
activities and the level of achievements of Mongolian athletes on the world arena
and spoke about the importance of government support for sports at the policy
level.
President Battulga emphasized that he believes in talents and skills of Mongolian athletes because Mongolians are sporty people. Considering
the achievements and types of sports events of the Mongolian national team from
its first participation in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics and the 1968 Mexico
Olympics, until the last Olympics, the operations of the MNOC, however, seem
insufficient.
Therefore, special attention should be paid to radically
reforming the MNOC operations, intensifying its foreign relations, as well as inviting
trainers and coaches from abroad to share experiences. It will elevate achievements of Mongolian athletes and increase the number of gold medals won at
the Olympic Games, stressed the President.
He also said that as Mongolia experiences cold weather for six
months in a year, winter sports can be developed in the country and Mongolian
athletes can successfully compete in the Winter Olympics.
