Views exchanged on intensification of joint projects

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Minister of Education and Science L.Tsedevsuren has met with Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Mongolia Tapan Mishra.
The meeting was attended by Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Alex Heikens and other officials.
Emphasizing that the Government of Mongolia highly appreciates the
outcomes of many years of cooperation with the UN and its specialized agencies
and its contribution to the development of the education and science sectors,
Minister L.Tsedevsuren said that the Ministry will continue to follow the
agreements and contracts that define the principles and guidelines of cooperation.
Briefing on the reform of the UN specialized agencies and the works to be carried out in the framework of the 75th anniversary of the UN, Mr. Tapan Mishra expressed his view on possibilities to increase effectiveness of joint projects during the quarantine regime.
With the non-refundable assistance provided by the UN, the Ministry of Education and Science and the UN are implementing a joint program on “Strengthening the national capacity to suppress transmission and maintain essential services in the COVID-19 pandemic in Mongolia”. The program has the following four components and is being implemented as planned.
1. Create e-learning with high quality methodologies, gender
sensitive contents and assessment and accessible to all children;
2. Establish an e-learning system and technology to make the core
curriculum accessible to all children;
3. Incorporate e-learning into Mongolia's education policy and
regulatory framework and improve it;
4. Provide additional training materials for the children of remote herders who are lagging behind, children with disabilities, ethnic minorities and low-income families.
Minister L.Tsedevsuren said that Mongolia has studied the experience and recommendations of many countries and developed an alternative plan to start its teaching and learning activities. Moreover, she thanked the United Nations and UNICEF for their significant contribution to the development and implementation of the “Communicable disease preparedness and response plans for kindergartens and schools”.
