Foreign Minister Enkhtaivan holds meeting with Canadian Ambassador

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On July 27, Minister of Foreign Affairs N.Enkhtaivan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Mongolia Catherine Ivkoff to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation.
After congratulating the Minister for his appointment, Ambassador C.Ivkoff noted that she will closely cooperate in further developing the relations and cooperation between Mongolia and Canada.
She then noted that common values such as democracy, parliamentary governance, respect for human rights and the rule of law, and press freedom serves as the foundation for partnership between the two countries, and expressed her satisfaction in consistently supporting Mongolia with the help of investment promotion and implementation of development programs.
Highlighting the significant contribution being made by Canada in promoting the mining sector of Mongolia and economic development as Mongolia’s third neighbor and leading partner in investment, Minister N.Enkhtaivan put forth a suggestion to cooperate in intensifying bilateral trade and economic partnership, and manufacture goods and products that meet international standards and requirements and supply them to third-country markets.
Noting that Mongolia has become one of the few countries to effectively limit coronavirus infections through government measures, he then expressed willingness towards developing bilateral relations even during the pandemic.
Minister N.Enkhtaivan expressed gratitude for the appropriate attention being given to Mongolian citizens that are currently studying and living in Canada during the COVID-19 pandemic, and requested the Ambassador for continuous support and assistance.
