Coronavirus test developed by Mongolian scholars produces its result within two hours

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A working team founded with the aims of domestically producing coronavirus test and introducing it into use, has presented outcome of their research.
Staff from the Ministry of Health, Institute of Veterinary Medicine of the Mongolian University of Life Sciences (MULS) and Mongolian scholars at the Technical University of Munich, Germany are in the working team. And the team has produced an important part of the test kit for COVID-19 PCR testing in Mongolia and it correctly diagnosed infected and non-infected samples during the experiments.
Most corona virus tests detect the virus in two stages. In particular, it diagnoses coronavirus group at its
primary stage and then COVID-19. While, the test developed by
Mongolian researchers has high sensitivity which detects the virus through one
time test.
The tests being used in our country show its result after five hours on average while it will take just two hours for the new one.
“It will fit to all testing instrument manufactured in Germany, Japan and China, which are broadly used in hospitals and its method is easy as well. Most importantly, it will reduce current cost for diagnosing a single person,” said D.Ganzorig, specialist at the Policy Planning Department of the Ministry of Health.
Scientific research team leader at the Medical School of Technical University of Munich, Germany D.Nyambayar and Head of Virology Laboratory of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine of the MULS B.Boldbaatar have played pivotal role in development of the test.
