Capital city governor meets IOM Programme Manager

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Officials led by Governor of the
capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar S.Amarsaikhan on April 30 met with Victor
Lutenco, Programme Manager at UN Migration Agency, International Organization
for Migration (IOM), in Mongolia to discuss the performance of Displacement
Tracking Matrix (DTM) flow monitoring tool .
Since the Displacement Tracking Matrix launched, officials have
been collecting information on number and type of vehicles, number of people
traveling and basic demographic characteristics, origin and destination of
travel as well as length of stay at six major checkpoints in Ulaanbaatar. Data collected over 60 days by the flow
monitoring tool to track all the incoming and outgoing vehicles
suggests 20 percent increase in the population of Ulaanbaatar city.

underlined that the utilization of flow monitoring tool plays an important role in reducing
risk and pledged to provide equipment and other necessary support throughout
May.
Emphasizing that the approach would be of great importance
in promptly responding to Covid-19 cases, Governor S.Amarsaikhan undertook to
continue using DTM until the pandemic subsides, make regulations to keep
the information being collected from
citizens confidential by means of digital technology, and train specialists and
exchange information with the International Organization for Migration in the
future.
The sides also talked about fully introducing the approach in Mongolia.
