Specialists of German project assist Khovd Aimag

/MONTSAME/. On April 23, 2020, Head of the Khovd Department of Environment and
Tourism L.Batbayar and Dr. Michael Trockenbrodt, Project Manager of the German
Cooperation project ‘Supporting Protected Areas for the Conservation of
Ecosystem Services’ (SPACES) signed two agreements regarding the placement of
international Development Advisers at the Department.
Based in
Khovd for the next two years, GIZ Development Advisors Ms.Mieke Kuiters and Ms.Raquel
Nerger will support the development of sustainable tourism and livelihood
improvement measures. The geographical focus of their work lies on two larger
landscape areas (clusters). They are joined in their efforts by their Mongolian
GIZ colleague Mr.Sakin Kenjbai. Together they contribute towards SPACES aim to
improve the framework conditions for the sustainable development of protected
areas which in turn will lead to improved conservation efforts in the two
larger landscapes (clusters).
SPACES is supported by the German Government and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in cooperation with the Department of Protected Area Management of the Mongolian Ministry of Environment and Tourism.
