Progress of Ulaanbaatar Darkhan Road Project informed

/MONTSAME/ On January 9, Minister of Road and Transport Development
B.Enkh-Amgalan met with Ekaterina Miroshnik, Director and Head of Infrastructure for
Russia and Central Asia, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
(EBRD), Irina Kravchenko, Head of the EBRD Resident Office in Mongolia, and
other officials.
The sides exchanged
information on the current progress of the Ulaanbaatar-Darkhan road project to
be implemented with a soft loan from the bank and discussed some road and
transport projects that are of prime concern for Mongolia.
EBRD has
successfully carried out the project tender online through its website and it
allowed the process to be transparent and fair, the sides noted.
The Ministry
of Road and Transport Development and EBRD are working to jointly commence the road
works in time.
Ministry of
Finance of Mongolia and EBRD established a general financing agreement on April
9, 2019, and a list of projects to be funded by EBRD was approved by the government
resolution No. 356 of September 18, 2019.
While
discussing in depth road and transport projects to be co-implemented in the
future, the sides underlined the necessity of improving transport conditions
and exchanged views on the possibilities of carrying out road projects in
phases for roads between Darkhan and Altanbulag, Gobi-Altai and Zavkhan, and other
parts of the country in this regard.
