State Secretary D.Davaasuren meets senior officials of U.S. Department of State

/MONTSAME/ On January 9, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
D.Davaasuren met with David R. Stilwell, Assistant Secretary, Bureau of East
Asian and Pacific Affairs, United States Department of State, exchanging views on
strengthening the strategic partnership between Mongolia and the United States
of America, expanding bilateral trade, investment, and economic relations, as
well as some regional issues of common concern.
At the
meeting, the Mongolian side informed of the government measures being taken to
be removed from the grey list of the Financial Action Task Force and the
U.S. side voiced their willingness to provide support in implementing the
organization’s recommendations.
Moreover, the two sides agreed to hold a consultative meeting between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, in the first half of 2020 and it was decided that Mr. David R. Stilwell will pay a visit to Mongolia during that meeting.
State
Secretary D.Davaasuren met also with Alex N. Wong, Deputy Assistant Secretary for North
Korea, U.S. State Department Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs. Discussing
regional issues, in particular, the current situation on Korean Peninsula, the
sides emphasized the importance of resolving the issue through talks.
Present at the
meetings were, Ambassador of Mongolia to the United States Yo.Otgonbayar,
Director General of the Department of America, Middle East, and Africa of the Mongolian
Foreign Ministry D.Gansukh, and Mongolian Embassy and State Department
officials.
