‘For a city with fresh air’ conference takes place

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. A conference under the theme, ‘For a city with fresh air’ was co-organized by the National Committee on Environmental Pollution Reduction, and the Governor’s Office of the Capital City on December 16. Minister of Environment and Tourism N.Tserenbat, Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar S.Amarsaikhan, Head of the working group of the National Committee on Environmental Pollution Reduction Ch.Gantulga, official in charge of air pollution projects of the capital city D.Munkhjargal, and corresponding officials and specialists of districts attended the conference.


In his opening remarks, Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar S.Amarsaikhan said, “The main measure for the reduction of air pollution in Ulaanbaatar city is to ban the consumption of raw coal. The participation of district and khoroo governors and officials is crucial in the implementation of the government resolution No.62 of February 28, 2018. An objective has been set to reduce air pollution by 50 percent by replacing the use of raw coal with refined coal. And as of today, pollution has reduced by 55 percent. Thus, I express my gratitude to all the officials joining forces against the air pollution of Ulaanbaatar.”


Presentations on measures being implemented on air pollution reduction, regulations for areas in crucial need of improvement in air quality, supply and sales of refined coal, and correct usage were done at the conference.
