Heads of Mongolian diplomatic missions see construction progress of railway

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. Heads of Mongolian diplomatic missions abroad are convening in Ulaanbaatar on December 13-19. On the sideline of the meeting, they worked in Dornogobi aimag on December 13-15, where they got acquainted
with the construction progress of 414km Tavantolgoi-Zuunbayan railway. R.Batsukh,
chairman of ‘Mongolian Railway’ State-owned Shareholding Company (SOSC), and
Major-General D.Ganzorig, head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, reported
the construction progress. Emphasizing the importance of utilizing foreign advanced
techniques and technology in constructing the railway, they requested the heads
of diplomatic missions to study the leading experience and advanced
technology of the countries of their mission and share information.
A construction work of
414.6km railroad, as stated in the “State Policy on Railway Transportation”, is
running concurrently in Mandakh and Zuunbayan, two soums of Dornogobi aimag. The
General Staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces and Ulaanbaatar Railway JVC, as
general contractors of the project, are executing the base infrastructure
construction of the railway, together with 15 sub-contractors.
The construction of railway
along the route Tavantolgoi-Zuunbayan lengthens Mongolia’s railway network by
414.6 km and is expected to improve competitiveness of coal transportation and
create a possibility to put mineral resources into economic circulation.
Currently, the construction work of the base infrastructure is running at 40
percent.
