Ambassador to Italy meets FAO Director-General

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Ambassador of Mongolia to the Italian Republic, Resident Representative Ts.Jambaldorj on November 29 met with Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations Qu Dongyu and exchanged views on relations and cooperation between Mongolia and the organization.

At the meeting, Ambassador Ts.Jambaldorj introduced Mongolian Government's initiative for proclaiming 2020 as the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists and FAO Director-General expressed the organization’s full support to the initiative and voiced willingness to provide all necessary assistance in this regard.


The aforementioned initiative was made by the governments of Mongolia and the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to promote the importance of rangeland and pastoralists in meeting the ever-increasing global food demand and to increase the sector’s role in achieving sustainable development goals. Thus, Mongolia is collaborating with FAO and other international organizations to realize the initiative.
