Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. A new building for the National Library of Mongolia is planned to be commissioned in June 2020. In accordance with Presidential decree of 2008, 0.3 ha land was issued for building the new national library in Sukhbaatar District of Ulaanbaatar city near the US Embassy in Mongolia. Already three years overdue its planned completion date of 2016, the suspended project with a total cost of MNT 12 billion has resumed this year.

The 11-floor building for the National Library will house reading halls and storage facilities and be equipped with everything necessary to provide friendly environments for readers of all ages, says T.Bayarlakh, head of the reading and service department of the library. The current historical building of the National Library will be used as an academic and research center once the library moves to its new building.
