Labor Minister meets IOM delegate

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Mr. S.Chinzorig welcomed International Organization for Migration (IOM) Chief of Mission for China and Mongolia Giuseppe Crocetti at the State House in Ulaanbaatar on October 18. The meeting focused on IOM’s newly launched project on internal migration.
Mr. Chinzorig highlighted the crucial timing and importance of addressing internal migration in Mongolia. He stressed how the lack of rural development inclusive of social services, employment and education opportunities have contributed to the intense urbanization to the capital in the last 20 years. As the ministry in charge of population development, it is the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection’s commitment to actively lead the implementation of the new project.
Mr. Giuseppe Crocetti emphasized IOM’s international experience and the strategic partnerships with Government stakeholders will aim at improving the socio-economic wellbeing of internal migrants in Mongolia.
