Mongolian delegation attends ESCAP Energy Committee meeting

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The Mongolian delegation headed by H.E. Mr. Tugsbilguun Tumurkhuleg, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) attended the Second Session of the ESCAP Committee on Energy held in Bangkok, Thailand from 9 to 11 October 2019.


During the session, the delegates discussed the status and progress made in Asia and the Pacific towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal 7, as well as the proposed areas for regional cooperation to contribute to the attainment of Goal 7. The delegates also reviewed and endorsed the draft regional roadmap for submission to the Commission at its 76th session.


On 9 October, H.E. Mr. Tugsbilguun Tumurkhuleg, Permanent Representative of Mongolia to ESCAP delivered a statement on the progress achieved in the country towards the implementation of SDG-7, including the development of renewable energy. In his statement, the head of the Mongolian delegation highlighted the importance of promoting regional energy cooperation, and briefed the delegates on the Mongolian President’s initiative on establishing regional organization for Northeast Asian common electricity market.
