Foreign Minister attends General Debate

The high-level General Debate at the 74th session of the UN General
Assembly opened on September 24 in New York city, in which Mongolian government
delegation headed by the MP and Minister of Foreign Affairs D.Tsogtbaatar is
attending.
In his opening
speech, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres underscored the 2030 Agenda for
Sustainable Development as a tool for social protection, sustainable
environment, education and decent jobs. However, Mr. Guterres stressed emerging
challenges in the implementation of 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,
saying “inequality is exploding”.
The General
Debate brought together government officials of over 150 countries who are expressing
positions on global issues and sharing views on policies and actions to be
further taken.
Minister
D.Tsogtbaatar will deliver a speech at the General Debate on September 28,
presenting the foreign policy objectives, priorities and policy and actions in
socioeconomy being taken by the Mongolian government as well as expressing
Mongolia’s position on international relations.
On the
sidelines of his participation in the General Debate, Mr. Tsogtbaatar held
meetings with Albert II, Prince of Monaco, foreign ministers of Azerbaijan,
Norway, Serbia, Trinidad and Tobago and Malta to exchange views on bilateral
cooperation. Moreover, the sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the
establishment of mechanism of the political consultative meeting between the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Trade
Promotion of the Republic of Malta.
