S.Battsetseg and Kh.Bolortuya win gold medals

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The 28th W. Ziolkowski Memorial tournament and the 23rd Poland Open International Tournament took place in Warsaw, Poland on August 2-4. From the 20 Mongolian freestyle wrestlers that competed in the two tournaments, nine athletes qualified for medal matches, winning 2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.


The gold medalists were State Honored Athlete S.Battsetseg and IM Kh.Bolortuya in women’s 68 kg and 65 kg weight classes respectively.


S.Battsetseg was matched against Agnieszka Wieszczek of Poland, Alina Berezhnaya of Ukraine, Anastasia Bratchikova of Russia, and Danielle Lappage of Canada, winning all her matches and became the champion of the tournament for the second time after 5 years.


As for IM Kh.Bolortuya, it was her first time competing in the international tournament, and came out victorious in her matches against wrestlers of Hungaria, Spain, Russia and Ukraine.


With IM A.Battsetseg winning the bronze medal in the women’s 59 kg, the national women’s team placed 3rd as a team in the Poland Open. 

 

From the men’s team, IM T.Tuvshintulga and IM B.Byambadorj won silver and bronze medals in the men’s 61 kg and 74 kg weight classes respectively.
