Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Parliament speaker G.Zandanshatar received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Of Japan to Mongolia Masato Takaoka on May 13.

Ambassador M.Takaoka noted that the beginning of the Heisei era coincided with the transition into a democratic society for Mongolia, and expressed his satisfaction that the partnership between the two countries reached the point of a strategic partnership. Speaker G.Zandanshatar agreed with the ambassador and said, “We are always grateful to the Government of Japan and the Japanese people for having consistently given their heartfelt support to Mongolia in times of difficulty during the democratic transition.”

During the meeting, Ambassador M.Takaoka mentioned the projects on the Khushig Valley airport and the Mongolia-Japan Teaching Hospital. Having previously come to the decision to introduce Japanese management in the frameworks of the projects, the results of the two large-scale projects are to be realized in the near future.

Speaker G.Zandanshatar expressed his gratitude for the results of the partnership in the construction of the new airport and teaching hospital and the financing of soft loans from the Government of Japan in the frameworks of the IMF’s Extended Fund Facility, and said, “Strengthening trust in business and official-level relationships is highly significant. Using the Japanese public service ethics as a model, we developed a bill on ethics and responsibility of civil servants, which will be discussed at the parliament soon. Our scholars and researchers are also successfully creating new inventions and doing research that meets the global standard and up-to-date with scientific advancements. It is crucial that the works are put into economic circulation and have more value added. Thus, there is a great opportunity for partnership between scientific organizations of two countries. This is a possible way to enrich the current relationship between the two countries for the new era of Reiwa. As the partnership mainly consisted of aid and financing from Japan during the Heisei era, it is important that the partnership be developed towards productivity in the Reiwa era.”
