Severe weather warning issued

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Wind speed will be 18-20 m/sec, reaching 24 m/sec at some times in Bayan-Ulgii and Gobi-Altai aimags as well as northern parts of Khovd, Bayankhongor and Dundgobi and southern Uvurkhangai tomorrow on May 10.


The National Agency of Meteorology and Environment Monitoring has issued a warning for severe weather as precipitation is expected in the northern part of the country tonight and most parts of the country during the day tomorrow with windstorms and blizzard due to drop in temperature.


Precipitation and blizzard are expected in the most parts of the east, central and gobi region on May 11, eastern parts of the east and gobi aimags on May 12, eastern part of the east aimags and northern part of the west aimags on May 13, and some parts of the west and central aimags on May 14.


Wind speed will reach 14-16 m/sec in most parts of the country on May 11, aimags in the east and gobi region on May 12, some parts of the west aimags on May 13 and some parts throughout the country on May 14.


With temperature drops in most parts of the country, in the depression of Darkhad, in mountainous areas of Khangai, Khuvsgul, Khentei, near Khurenbelchir, in the basins of Ider, Tes, Tuul and Terelj rivers, the night-time temperature will range from -7 to -12 degrees Celsius, and the daytime temperature will be +1 to +6.

In the gobi region south of Altai, the temperature will be +3 to +8 during the night, and +15 to +20 during the day. In the depression of the Great Lakes and in the southern part of the Gobi region, night-time temperature will range between -3 to +2 degrees Celsius, and daytime temperature will be +10 to +15.

In other areas, the nighttime temperature will be -2 to -7 degrees Celsius, and daytime temperature will be +5 to +10 degrees Celsius. Temperature is expected to rise in the western region on May 12, the central region on May 13 and the eastern region on May 14.
