Law on cinematography submitted to the Speaker

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports Yo.Baatarbileg submitted the draft Law on Cinematography Promotion approved by the Cabinet to the Parliament Speaker G.Zandanshatar.

The law was drafted to support competition of Mongolian films on the world market, promote film production and create legal environment for the industry to coordinate with the economic development. Mongolia lacks a legal regulation for the film industry and this will be the first law of the industry.

In addition to defining the state policy on film, principles, rights and obligations of state organizations, the law regulates a number of issues such as creating database of the sector, state support for the content that demonstrates national culture, history and heritage, promoting Mongolia through the cinema, selection criteria for the state-funded film, improving the quality of filmmaking, introducing new technologies, capacity building for the artists, training film experts and regulation for filming in Mongolia.
