Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In 2018, the Mongolian Agricultural Commodity Exchange traded commodities worth MNT 711.4 billion through 157 trades, showing an increase of 20 percent compared to the same period of last year, reported on January 30.

The trade of MNT 711.4 billion has been recorded as all-time high since the establishment of the MCE in 2013. Specifically, cashmere wool accounted for 83.1 percent of the total trade, dead-wool - 8.4 percent and sheep wool – 7.9 percent.

The MCE reported that the commodity exchange rate increased due to 30-70 percent increase in prices of commodities in 2018. As of the end of 2018, commodities and raw materials of a total of 12 listed companies traded at the MCE.

Officials noted that herders need to focus on cashmere and wool quality and supply them to domestic producers to process raw materials and add value to their exports.
