Road Minister meets Ambassadors

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Minister of Road and Transport Development Ya.Sodbaatar had meetings with Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, Japan and the People’s Republic of China to Mongolia to exchange views on further cooperation development in the road and transport sector. During the meetings, they highlighted the recent rapid developments in partnership between the countries.


In his meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia Mr. Masato Takaoka, Minister of Road and Transport Development Ya.Sodbaatar highlighted the large-scale project of building a new international airport in Ulaanbaatar city that is currently being implemented, and expressed gratitude in the Japanese government’s cooperation in sharing their advanced technology and experience. The two sides agreed to make efforts for making a final agreement in the management of the new airport in the near future.


The Minister focused on the railway sector as well as the intergovernmental economic corridor in his meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Mongolia Mr. I. K. Azizov. They discussed the necessary repairs and renovation in the infrastructure of the Mongolian-Russian joint-stock company Ulaanbaatar Railway, which is to be funded from the Russian government with the RUB 100 billion loan. As the Ulaanbaatar Railway has already reached its maximum limit with the current conditions, the two sides agreed on starting the repairs and renovations as soon as possible.

In his meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of China to Mongolia Mr. Xing Haiming, Minister Ya.Sodbaatar highlighted the friendly relations between the two countries and the partnership development in the road and transport sector in the recent years. They exchanged views on further cooperation development in the road and transport sector and implementation of large-scale projects the future. The two sides agreed to further develop partnership in the aviation sector by giving priority in increasing flight routes and frequency as well as making effort on the implementation of railway projects, which has great importance in trade and economic partnership between the two countries.
