Policy consultations between Mongolia and Singapore held
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The first policy consultative meeting
between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and the Republic of Singapore was held on
September 28 in Ulaanbaatar. The meeting was co-chaired by D.Davaasuren, State
Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and Ng Teck Hean,
Deputy State Secretary for Asia Pacific at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of
Singapore.
The sides exchanged views on wide potential for further
developing mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of economy and
investment while noting the development of friendly ties since the
establishment of Mongolia-Singapore diplomatic relations in 1970.
State secretary D.Davaasuren expressed interest in increasing
investment of Singapore in the sectors of agriculture, infrastructure and
finance, and in introducing advanced technology, innovation and good corporate
governance of the country to Mongolia.
The Singaporean side proposed to organize a business forum,
emphasizing the importance of increasing businesspersons’ awareness about
business environment, market, opportunities and legal climate of the both countries.
Mongolia conveyed gratitude for Singapore’s contribution to human resources development, mentioning many specialists have been receiving courses
on finance, economy, environment and so forth in Singapore since 1992 under the
Singapore Cooperation Programme.
Both sides highlighted the significance of developing road and transport and communication for deepening bilateral ties in the sectors of trade, economy, investment and tourism as well as for increasing travel of citizens of the two countries. In conclusion of the meeting, they agreed to further exchange views on their foreign policies in the Asia-Pacific region and to intensify cooperation.
