Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ During its regular meeting on September 12, the Cabinet discussed actions to be taken on prevention of cancer and reduction of cancer incidence and mortality.

Mongolia leads in the world with its incidence and mortality of gastric and oesophageal cancers. Cancer-related mortality made up 25.6 percent of total mortality rate in 2017. Up to 90 percent of people with cancer are aged 45-69, of whom 80 percent were diagnosed at late stage. In 2017, 6073 people were detected to have cancer,  of whom 4004 died that year. Therefore, early detection of cancer among the population is a priority. It will be contributive to reduce mortality rate and to treat illness completely.

Drastic increase of loads at the National Cancer Center (NCC) makes necessity to enhance the hospital's capacity.

Accordingly, Ministers of Health and Construction and Urban Planning were tasked to scrutinize a prerequisite to use a hospital building being erected by Ener Med LLC for the NCC operation under the concession agreement and to report its formulated recommendation to the Cabinet for solution.
