UNFAO Representative presents credential letter

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Resident Representative Vinod Kumar Ajuha presented his credential letter to the Minister of Foreign Affairs D.Tsogtbaatar on August 2.

During the meeting Minister D.Tsogtbaatar introduced the Government policy on food and agriculture in details and exchanged views on relations and cooperation between Mongolia and UN FAO.

Minister D.Tsogtbaatar requested the Resident Representative to work in Ulgii soum of Bayan-Ulgii aimag, where heavy rainfall of July 14-16 caused flooding affecting over 2500 people. Mr. Vinod Ajuha accepted his request and committed to work in Bayan-Ulgii aimag. Moreover, the parties agreed to cooperate in exporting milk, dairy products, meat and meat products to the European union. 

Mongolia became the member of the FAO in 1973. Over the past years, FAO has given support and assistance in the fields of research, natural resources management, technology transfer, food and agriculture policy, livestock production systems management, emergency and post crisis management, forestry information, statistics, food quality and safety.
