Mongolia selected a highlight country at 32nd FIFF

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ Mongolia was selected as a highlight country in the ‘New Territory’ Program of the 32nd edition of the Fribourg International Film Festival (FIFF), Switzerland.

In connection with it, a roundtable meeting on publicizing Mongolian cinematography was held on March 21, with the presence of member of the International Jury at FIFF 2018  Ts.Ariunaa, producer S.Byamba, film director Ch.Batbayar, film director D.Byambasuren and Gabriella Spirli, Consul General and Director of Cooperation at the Swiss Cooperation Office of the Embassy of Switzerland in Mongolia.

Organized on March 16-25, the FIFF 2018 screened 140 films from 52 countries, including Mongolian films ‘State of dogs’ (1998), ‘The men with blue dots’ (2012), ‘Remote control’ (2013), ‘Yellow colt’ (2013), ‘The mother’ (2016), ‘Passion’ (2010), ‘Out of paradise’ (2017) and ‘One life of two women’ (2015) and ‘Ten soldiers of Genghis Khan’ (2012).

During the festival, V.Purevdorj, Ambassador of Mongolia to the Swiss Confederation and Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva, met with the FIFF President Francois Nordman, FIFF’s artistic director Thierry Jobin, and head of the Locarno Film Festival Sophie Bourdon.  

At the meeting, it was agreed to invite Sophie Bourdon to the ‘Ulaanbaatar International Film Festival’ to be held this autumn and publicize Mongolian cinema industry during the Locarno Film Festival 2020 and 2021.
